Welcome to the "Historic
Homes" section of my
website. Here you'll find
links to historic house
resources online,
recommendations for local
tradespeople and professionals for historic
homeowners and, most importantly, my
historic
homes blog, where you'll find a mixture of historic
real estate information, preservation & restoration
tips, local events, photos and historic tidbits. I invite
your comments and questions and look forward to
hearing from you !
Dave Byers
An old house is much more
than a collection of boards,
beams, nails, plaster, and
paint. Antique homes have
charm, character and a
vintage ambiance that is
often imitated but never quite duplicated in more
modern houses. Older homes pass along the
traditions of sturdy construction and fine
craftsmanship that were so important to earlier
generations. They represent continuity with the
past, and anchor the changing landscape with
ever-present reminders of our history.
I specialize in helping people buy
and sell antique, historic, and
vintage homes. I find it especially
rewarding to help with the
sometimes difficult task of passing
along a treasured family homestead
to a new family who will respect its
history and appreciate its unique
character and qualities. With a
Master's degree in history from
UConn and historic preservation
experience working with several
museums, I am well-equipped to
highlight the important architectural
features and enthusiastically market
the unique aspects of your older
home. Buyers will connect with your
house even before they see it, and
that could mean more money in your
pocket !
